I enjoyed making my first digital chess set, Falcon, so much that I made another one called Oslo! I think that the pawns are my favorite element of the set…they are very non-traditional, but I have no problem reading them as pawns when scanning a chess position.
There are couple reasons I thought Oslo would be a nice name for the set. I feel like it has a Scandinavian design vibe to first of all, but Norway also has played a big role in the chess world—especially recently. The top player in the world, Magnus Carlsen, is from a town near Oslo. Also, one of the defenses I enjoy playing with the black pieces is called the Scandinavian defense (e4-d5, exd4-Qxd4 in case you were curious).
