I’ve been working pretty hard the last couple weeks gearing up for this year’s Art in the Park Elkader. It’s only a week away—August 19 & 20.
My goal with the Art in the Park graphics is to make something that looks bright and fun, and gives off a small town type feel. This is a graphic that is being used on tee-shirts and I’m really pleased with how it turned out. I wish I’d come up with it earlier in the year, so I could have used it in more of our materials.
An interesting aspect of working on a brand over a long period of time is watching it evolve under my own fingertips in ways I couldn’t predict. In the past my instinct had been to establish the visual principles of a brand, and then simply implement them over and over, but I’ve come to find that it’s important to be constantly fiddling and improving, because that’s how things really start to become more natural and cohesive.
